Back on April 3, Madras High Court had passed the order of banning this video sharing app from download and use in the country. The court was worried that the app allows inappropriate content available to minors. Not just this but minors are also able to get in touch with the strangers through this app. This has raised the concern of innocent kids becoming a cyber victim.

But according to the officials at Tik Tok, all these are just the exaggerations made by the petitioner. Senior Advocate Isaac Mohanlal, who has appealed for Tik Tok has told the HC that the app has the technology to restrict the upload of inappropriate content through it. In case the court didn’t find any such technology in work, it will be considered as the contempt of court.

After hearing everything that Tik Tok and senior advocates has to say. The Bench of Justices decided to let go of the ban from the video-sharing app.

Officials at Tik Tok are quite happy with the decision. They are happy to allow their Indian users to showcase their skills and creativity. As the app presents its users with the opportunity to become a social media influencer. That can help users to set their future career.

Is there anything else that the government can do?

India is not the only country who put the ban on this video sharing app. But just as you can see banning an app won’t be that easy. In this situation, implying Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act, (just like the United States) would do the work.

This act is put in place by the US government to prevent their minors from becoming a cyber victim. Though, banning the app for once and all would be the better option.

I’m not happy with this, are you?
