Beating former world no. 1 Li Xue Rui in straight sets world champion PV Sindhu entered the 2nd round of China Open here on Wednesday. The Chinese was beaten 21-18 and 21-12 in the two sets. The star shuttler from India entered the round of 16 and is expected to sail through to the Quarterfinals without much hiccups.
In men’s single India’s Sai Praneeth defeated Thai opponent Suppanyu Avihingsanon in a thrilling 72-minute long encounter. Sai clinched the match 2 sets to 1. Earlier in the day, Saina Nehwal crashed out of the tournament after her defeat to the 19th ranked Thai player Busanan Ongbamrungphan.
Both Sai and Sindhu have kept India’s medal hope alive with the latter expected to make a podium finish.
