Behind that glittery wall, Bollywood industry has a dark side that we can’t really peep in.
Everyone speaks in a hush-hush manner after every now and then. Sometimes it’s a shocking revelation about someone, and sometimes it’s a controversial statement that is devised to create publicity.
And this time, it’s no different.
To add up to the existing spices in B-town, Former Miss India Tanushree Dutta came up with the claim that Nana Patekar assaulted her on the sets of ‘Horn Ok Pleasss’. Undoubtedly, it’s a huge claim.
Tanushree didn’t even flinch while making this huge revelation. But, is that enough to prove that the incidents she claimed happened to her, really did happen?

let’s see what is the whole claim about?
Long story short, Tanushree recently claimed that she was pressurized by the choreographer Ganesh Acharya to perform intimate scenes with Nana Patekar. Which apparently was not mentioned in the script of the movie Horn Ok Pleasss.
In addition to this, she said that Nana was trying to intimidate her using everything that he could have. She was dragged around with her arms, touched inappropriately in the name of dance steps and also forced to have an intimate sequence with him.
She was even threatened by political goons who were supposedly called by Nana himself so that she along with her family could be victims of a mob lynching.
People smashed her car, jumped over it and even deflated her tire while she was sitting inside the car scared to death.
Thankfully, she came out of it unhurt but said that this incident did have a severe effect on her mental health.
Having said all that, she now stands firm to her claims. She isn’t afraid of the consequence, even if there are some legal implications in her way.
Why didn’t she come out with this revelation before?
The natural question of “Why Now?” is on everyone’s mind. If this incident happened way back in 2008, why is this being brought up today?
Right?
The answer might come as a shocker, but this incident indeed was brought up at that time as well. According to a 2008 Times of India report, Tanushree did file a complaint with Cine and Television Artistes Association (CINTAA) for damage to her property and reputation and also lodged a police complaint against the same.
But as Nana got support from political parties like ShivSena and other local parties, he came out of it, unharmed.

What followed next?
Going by the Bollywood textbook story, we all know what happens to an actor who speaks against a senior actor. It’s the same case when a small cycle honks at the double-decker bus.
The same happened with Tanushree. As expected, after she brought up the matter of Nana Patekar’s misbehavior, she was replaced by Rakhi Sawant in the movie. It kind of rules down the whole point that she is bringing this up now to create controversy.
She had already filed a police complaint back then. But before she could lodge an FIR, a counter FIR was lodged by Nana.
This incident ended up being a turning point in her career and she bid her goodbyes to the glamorous B-industry. She claimed to even have suffered from post-traumatic stress syndrome, and eventually took up to the path of spiritually to regain her confidence.
What could be the truth behind this whole incident?
If we think of it as a publicity stunt, few things can immediately clear this out and make this claim baseless.
As per records, she did try to raise her voice against it, even then. And also the fact that a senior journalist Janice Sequeira, who was present at the shoot makes it clear that something did happen that day.
Shyni Shetty, an assistant director on the film came out in her support and said that she saw the actress getting uncomfortable during a song rehearsal with Patekar.
Soon after, she saw her leave the sets and go back in her vanity van. The incident, when her car was attacked by goons took place just after she came out in her regular clothes and was on her way home.
After this incident, she was abruptly replaced by Rakhi Sawant in the movie.

Or could it be the other way around?
On the other hand, Nana refuses to accept any of the claims whatsoever. He came out with the statement that she has been like a daughter to him and that he never did anything of the sort that she had claimed in her interview.

This brings the picture of yet another case of small actors, trying to gain publicity by accusing some big shots. Could that be the case here? Is Tanushree trying to be in controversy and find her way back to B-town? Who knows?
Nevertheless, Nana has said that he will take legal actions. While Nana has not received much support ever since this came to light, he finally has found someone backing him.
Sanjay Raut of Shiv Sena has now come out in support of the actor and said that he has known him for a long time and that his side should be listened to. But this just proves the fact that Nana gets support from political parties like Tanushree had claimed earlier.
Nana’s team has also sent a notice for defamation to Tanushree.
On the other hand, Tanushree filed a complaint in the Maharashtra State Commission for Women. The complaint is against all those who had harassed her back then. The commission’s Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar said that they have taken note of Ms. Dutta’s complaint and sent notices to those named by her.
What is Nana’s course of action?
Even though Nana’s lawyers had advised him not to talk to any news channels, he held a small press conference. In this conference, he said that everything from now on will be taken care of by his lawyers and he is not going to make any statement about the allegations.
On the other hand, the Maharashtra State Commission for Women has asked actor Nana Patekar to appear before it or file his response in 10 days in connection with a complaint of alleged sexual harassment against him filed by Tanushree Dutta.

In an interview, even Dimple Kapadia can be seen giving nod to the fact that Nana indeed has a dark side to him.
On the other hand, actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Salman Khan, who are known to make movies on social causes have refrained from making any statement about it. The truth will come out anyhow, its just a matter of time.
