Delhi Government Is Organising Monsoon Festival In The City For You

Monsoon is one of the best time of the year. Even though the streets of Delhi get flooded every time it rains. Traffic does make our lives little hard but still, the city looks better after getting washed down in the rain.

There is less pollution in the air, we finally get some relief from the scorching summer heat. To make it all even better, Delhi government is organising a monsoon festival for the citizens of the national capital.

Delhi government is organising a three-day-long monsoon festival at Mehrauli’s Jahaz Mahal between August 30 and September 1. It will include heritage walks, dastangoi (Persian style of storytelling), and a gathering at Aam Bagh with some folk music.

To really make you enjoy the monsoon evening Delhi government is arranging delicacies such as tea, pakoras and sharbat. Now it gives the real feel of monsoon party.

But Why Mehrauli?

During the early time, in the Mughal era, Mehrauli was one of the popular monsoon destinations. As there are several water bodies that would fill up with the fresh rainwater. Also with the number of gardens and mango orchards that would appear more greener during the rain is a sight that not just Mughals but you also want to catch.

But that’s just only one reason to choose Mehrauli as the party destination. The real reason is that the tourism department is trying to make Mehrauli is the tourist destination.

“Mehrauli is home to a large number of monuments and archaeological ruins. However, most tourists only visit Qutub Minar. The area, including Mehrauli village, houses old baolis and is a hidden treasure of heritage,” said a senior officer of the tourism department.

It is true most of us don’t even know that Mehrauli houses a ton of place to visit. All we know is that Qutub Minar is in Mehrauli. So with the help of monsoon festival, the government is trying to put Mehrauli on the tourist map of Delhi.

To Conclude

It is the first time that such a festival will be held in the city, people should come and see the heritage that has been hidden from so many of us.
