In Yet Another Embarrassment For Pak, UAE To Confer PM Modi With Highest Civilian Award

UAE and Pakistan enjoy extremely close and fraternal relations. And when Pakistan would have thought UAE will stand firm with them in their protest against the revocation of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir by India, UAE leaves them embarrassed.

Reportedly, despite the ongoing tiff between India and Pakistan, UAE today, Aug 24, will confer PM Modi with their highest civilian award. Modi, who is currently on a three-nation visit -France UAE and Bahrain – will be receiving the ‘Order of Zayed’, from the UAE government.

Order of zayed

The award has been named after Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founding father of the UAE. The honour becomes more special as it is being awarded to Modi on the birth centenary of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

Uninfluenced by what Pakistan has been saying about India, the decision to confer PM Modi with the award depicts the strong ties that India and UAE shares. To mention, earlier, UAE has come out in support of India after Delhi scrapped Article 370 dividing the state of Jammu and Kashmir in two Union Territories. The division allows the government’s direct governance-control over the valley.

UAE when asked to comment on India’s decision, it, like every other country/organization, declared India’s actions as an Internal matter amid at “reducing regional disparity and improving efficiency”.

PM Modi’s UAE Visit

During the entirety of the visit, PM Modi will hold talks with Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on international, bilateral and regional issues and how the two countries can forge stronger relationships.

“Reached Abu Dhabi. Looking forward to holding talks with His Highness Crown Prince @MohamedBinZayed and discussing the full range of friendship between India and UAE. Deepening economic relations will also be on the agenda during this visit,” PM Modi tweeted on Friday night.

The two countries share major commercial and economic relations along with cultural relations that PM Modi often promotes on international platforms.  After UAE’s visit, PM Modi is scheduled to visit Bahrain which would be first-ever Prime Ministerial visit from India to the island country in the Persian Gulf.
