This Is Why Indian Captain Virat Kohli Insist On Keeping Injured Dhawan In Team Even After His Injury

India’s second ICC World Cup 2019 match was against Australia. With the help of its amazing openers, Indian cricket team was able to score 352 runs. It was a hard target to follow for the Australian team.

With the help of their outstanding bowling and fielding, India was able to win the match. It was India’s second consecutive win, fans were happy. But there was sad news for the team.

As Dhawan got injured after being struck on the left thumb by a rising delivery from Pat Cummins during India’s second World Cup match against Australia.

But the team decided not to replace Dhawan, instead keep him under observation.

Although, the Indian team management has asked Rishabh Pant to fly in as a cover for Dhawan. But the team is still praying for Dhawan’s quick recovery.

Revealing the main reason behind India’s decision to not to replace injured Shikhar Dhawan, captain of Indian cricket team Virat Kohli said the team management required their opener’s to play their magic in the latter half of the ICC World Cup 2019 group stages and the knockouts.

Shikhar Dhawan scored his century against Australia, but he has been sidelined for at least two weeks after his injury.

“Hopefully, the injury heals fast and he will be ready for the latter half of our league games and semi-finals for sure. From that point of view, we want to hold him back, keep him here,” Kohli revealed after yesterday’s India vs New Zealand match, which was washed out due to rain.

Kohli also praised Dhawan’s mindset, said, “His positive attitude towards the game will help him recover fast. He doesn’t want to be replaced, he wants to play. I think that kind of mindset will boost his recovery as well as he really wants to play.”

“Dhawan is going have a plaster on this thumb for a couple of weeks. After that we will assess where he stands,” added Kohli.

India’s team management will not only pay attention to Dhawan’s batting and fitness but they will be also evaluating his ability to filed before including him into the dream 11 teams of India.
