Hong Kong Protester Holds Indian Flag Says, ‘Because India Is Fighting China. So India Is My Friend!’

As much as India hates China right now (expect the anti-national elements of course), Hong Kong hates China five times more. Protests in Hong Kong have been going on for more than a year now after the government introduced the Extradition Bill and National Security Law.

China, as you may know, follows the one-party rule and entertains no to less democratic rights. However, Hong Kong, despite being administered by China, has its own legal system under“one country, two systems”. The system allows Hong Kong to have civil service, independent courts, freewheeling press, open internet, services which are not practiced in China.

However, China, being the oppressor it is, introduced an extradition bill and also implemented Hong Kong Security Law in Kong Hong as on June 30. While the bill aims to allow China to detain guilty in Hong Kong and punish them in China, the National Law, as per experts, is an attempt of China to interfere in Hong Kong’s democratic administration.

The fact that the law’s 66 articles were kept secret until after it was passed shows how draconian the same is. So people are, of course, protesting against it so were they on October 1.

The people’s Republic of China celebrates its founding day on October 1. However, it was not so much of a celebration in Hong Kong as there were fierce clashes between protesters and police in Hong Kong.

Amidst these clashes, a protestor was seen holding India’s national flag. A journalist, who was capturing the protest, asked the man why he was carrying an Indian flag to which he replied:
