Haryana To ‘Open Schools’ In July In Phased Manner

While many parents are unwilling to end their kids’ schools and colleges until the situation gets normal Haryana has a plan for opening them. Haryana (probably the 1st state to do so) has said that they would be opening schools in the state from next month. This would be done in a phased manner.

Haryana Education Minister Kanwar Pal Singh informed the media on Wednesday. “In the first phase, Classes 10-12 would be started in July, followed by Classes 6-9, and in the last phase Classes 1-5 would begin,” said the minister. Colleges and university classes will begin in August he added. The announcement has however left the parents upset as the cases are rising.

Singh said that demo classes will be run in a few schools to find out how social distancing in the classrooms can be ensured. The state’s Directorate School Education has asked District Education Officers to constitute committees to discuss the issue of opening schools. The report is to be submitted by 7 of this month in this regard.
