Researchers from WABetaInfo have found a beta version of WhatsApp which mentions a feature that offers the use of WhatsApp on multiple devices with one account.

There is a screenshot of that beta version of WhatsApp showing the new feature named as, “Register Device As Companion” is under development process. This gives us the hint that the main device will be on which the account is first registered and other devices on which the user will activate its account later will serve as a companion.

Users will have to install and open the application on a second device to scan the QR code from the original device to run WhatsApp with the same account. After this process the second device will be called companion and messages will be synced with end-to-end encryption.

Currently connecting WhatsApp to other devices with synchronization is available but only for PCs. For other devices like ios or android this feature will arrive with the new update which is currently being tested as beta. Well, this facility to connect tablets and smartphones was found in the testing version of WhatsApp client for Android. But it is not yet clear if the same will be offered for ios or not. Meta has not commented on the matter yet.
