Best Series To Watch On Netflix In July 2018

Completing a series overnight is a stunt you all have tried.

But, only a few daredevil-serial-watchers cross the rough seas of back-to-back episodes.

( Most of you doze-off mid-way!!!)

No wonder you end up all red-eyed and mind-fooked. But the worst feeling creeps up when you realize, you’ve reached the last episode. And it kills you when you come to know that it’s the freaking last season too!

But…just… don’t lose hope yet. To calm thy insomniac souls, here’s a list of Netflix series which can keep you up all night glued to your screens.

And you can get back to surrounding yourself with the necessities that’ll keep you alive for the next several hours of Netflix and chill

1. Mind hunters

As the name suggests- this Netflix series is all about minds. Minds of serial-killers. Specifically, the thought-process, to understand how they think and why they kill.

The story revolves around FBI agents Holden Ford (Jonathan Groff) and Bill Tench (Holt McCallany) who travel across the US and interview serial-killers- in hope of applying this knowledge to solving the ongoing cases.

The 10 episode-long series is tied in such an enticing manner that it will give you the appearance of a very long movie.

If you love thriller and some lip- biting drama, this is the series which is designed just for you! There are 10 episodes in the 1st season and Netflix has officially confirmed the second season on November 30, 2018.

2. Sense 8

A mind-boggling yet powerful series in which 8 people from different regions of the world are shown to be linked together mentally and emotionally. This weird connection they have is because they are something called ‘Sensates’.

They can sense and communicate with each other, and can share their knowledge, language, and skills. Now if that isn’t super cool…I don’t know what is!

Next comes a villainous sensate who is all set to hunt all of them down by using their powers against them. How they stand together against the enemy and survive is what the show is all about.

Undoubtedly, this new concept will keep your interest level at the peak.

This show has just completed 2 seasons and each season has 12 episodes, so you have ample material to enjoy.

3. The Originals

Brace yourselves if you are a Vampire Diaries fan and just can’t get enough of it. This spin-off series can be called as the better version of the main show.

It revolves around the Original vampires Klaus and Elijah who try and take back the city of New Orleans.

The twists and turns along with the witches, werewolves and vampire war going on the series is sure to grip you tight with the anticipation of what happens next. Each episode ends with a cliffhanger to keep your eyes gouged at the screen for next episode.

After successfully completeing 4 seasons, fortunately, the 5th season has aired in 2018, so if you haven’t started watching ‘The Originals’ yet, now is your golden chance.

4. Everything sucks

With such an unusual, yet relatable title ‘Everything sucks’ thankfully doesn’t suck at all. This 90’s era inspired comedy-drama series will be the best time pass if you are trying to get over ‘Stranger things’.

Though you won’t find any gripping and twisting and tossing turns in this series, it won’t bore you at all.

The show is set in the backdrops of the town called ‘Boring’ in the quiet state of Oregon. The A/V Club and Drama Club crew members are the main leads of this show which includes- Kate and Luke.

The whole season has a smooth flow and the journey of high-school kids is portrayed brilliantly. This show is sure enough to give you a sweet taste of innocence from the 90s era and the technology of that time.

The first season has a total of 10 episodes and there isn’t gonna be a second season on Netflix.

5. Deception

The smallest hint of the movie –’Now you see me’ can be seen in this series. But, it’s the other way round. This show revolves around the superstar magician ‘Cameron Black’, who loses his reputation after being involved in a scandal.

The only path he finds, to redeem himself, is by helping the FBI catch criminals. For this, he uses his magical talents and tricks, his deception techniques and also invents new illusion methods as he goes along solving new cases.

If magic and crime are your favorite genres, this show has combined it in a pretty decent mix for you.

The first season has 13 episodes and the second season is yet to be announced.

6. Lost in Space

If you are into space sci-fi alien-future kinda stuff, this is the show meant for you. Set on a futuristic theme, the show takes you on the journey of colonization in space. In the attempt to send colonists to their new home, something goes wrong. One thing leads to another and Robinson family along with two other colonists find themselves stranded in the middle of an alien environment.

Molly- a fearless and brilliant aerospace engineer accompanied by her husband- ‘Toby Robinson’ and three children Mina, Taylor, and Maxwell fight against the hostile environment and various dangers to get back to the original colony they were supposed to reach in the first place.

Space-adventure, thrill and adrenaline rush is what you should expect out of ‘Lost in Space.’ Season 1 has 10 chilling episodes and season 2 is confirmed by Netflix, but the release date is yet to be decided.

7. Altered Carbon

Ok, to be honest, this show is brutally fascinating. Meaning, the plot and the story is so complex and interesting that you won’t get up for a pee-break. No kidding.

In the show, you see that new technology and advanced science making ‘death’ a talk of the past. Now you can digitize your consciousness and transfer it to a new body(or sleeve as they call it!).

The series revolves around the life of Laurens Bancroft, an impossibly wealthy man who hires Takeshi Kovacs (the lone surviving soldier in a group of elite interstellar warriors).

This mega-fighter cum soldier is brought back to life by Bancroft and in exchange is asked to solve the murder of ‘Lauren Bancroft’ himself. Strange? Confusing? Well, that’s what ‘Altered carbon’ is about.

The first season is out with 10 thrilling episodes. On the other hand, Netflix has yet to officially commission a second season of the show.

8. The rain

If apocalyptic drama is your thing, ‘The rain’ will catch your attention…instantly. The series is set on a post-apocalyptic Scandinavian background that portrays the destruction of humanity. The downpour of rain washes away most of the humane population.

A lucky few survive and among them are our leads- Simone and Rasmus.

The duo, after spending almost 6 years in a bunker, finally, step out when their food resources have depleted. You require time and patience to absorb the emotions and twists in this science-fiction cum horror drama. So, my advice would be to take this slow and watch 2 episodes per day.

Season 1 consists of 8 episodes and on May 30th, 2018, Netflix renewed The Rain for a Season 2.

9. Dark

Mysterious, horrifying and thrilling is what you will get when you watch –“Dark”.

If you love ‘Stranger Things’, you are sure to love this one. The story unfolds with children mysteriously disappearing in a fictional-German village. Also, there are so many secrets in this village you’ll never guess. This Netflix series has time travel, psychological drama, struggle, and horror weaved neatly in its plot.

The series follows Jonas (a teenager coping up with his father’s suicide) and a police officer Ulrich (whose brother disappeared 33 years earlier) along with the police chief Charlotte Doppler. As the series grows, the mystery unravels and the dark past of the families starts to come out.

You can go on an all-night series watching marathon with this one. The first season has 10 episodes and the Dark was officially renewed by Netflix for season two on December 20.

10. A Series of Unfortunate Events

This Netflix series is based on a children’s storybook written by Lemony Snicket, who also happens to be the narrator of the show.

Filled with tragedy and comedy at the same time, the series revolves around the lives of three children from the Baudelaire family who are desperately trying to find the reason behind the mysterious deaths of their parents. Since their parents have died, they are sent off to live with the wicked uncle Count Olaf.

The twists and turns in the plot are all a result of Olaf’s conspiracies and his witty actions. Olaf-played by Neil Patrick Harris is a dark character who wants to inherit the property and wealth left by the Baudelaire family.

Season one landed in January 2017, season two came out in March 2018, so going by that pattern, we’ll predict season three will air in early 2019. Each season consists of ten episodes.

So, stop sulking and get over the shows you have dearly loved. It’s time to move on and try something new and exciting.
Who knows you might end up having a new favorite …right??
