The security forces on Tuesday achieved major success as the chief of Kashmir Al-Qaeda was killed in an encounter. Hamid Lelhari who was named as the successor of the unit after Zakir Musa’s death was hiding in with his two associates.

The encounter that took place in Awantipora yesterday evening saw security forces launching a search operation after getting inputs about terrorist hideouts. Kashmir Police recovered arms and ammunition from the site of hideouts.
Hamid Lelhari was a native of Pulwama district in Kashmir and took in the charge in June after Zakir Musa’s death in May this year. In another encounter that took place in Pulwama region, 3 Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists were killed.

Out of the 3 terrorist two were involved in killings of two Gujjar brothers on August 29 in Tral in what was one of the first casualties after center’s decision to revoke Article 370.
